Captains Training #2

Saturday December 6 from 2-5pm
Held at TCMC (Warden/401 behind Buffet King)

These are the three workshops at the upcoming training below. You choose two of them to go to!

Conflict Resolution with James Lau
Effective problem solving and conflict resolution is an essential skill to working with people and for managing groups. Conflicts are inevitable in social settings and can be resolved in productive or destructive ways. How a leader deals with the conflict will significantly impact group dynamics and leadership credibility. Learn about mediation and conflict resolution from James, who has his Masters in Industrial Relations with disciplinary experience in mediation, negotiations and labour dispute resolution. The workshop will be interactive and discussion-based, with role-playing and case studies to help put skills learned into practice.

Sharing the Gospel with Yu-Ling Lee
Have you ever had trouble sharing about Jesus to your friends? Sharing the gospel with friends is a common stumbling block for most Christians. In this workshop you will learn to gauge the different identifiable stages that non-Christians usually find themselves in before they accept Christ, so that you can more effectively respond and minister to them. He'll describe the factors that influence how people shift in their perspectives and become open to the Gospel. Practical tools to help people enter the kingdom will also be taught. Yu-Ling is is a university ministry associate at AFC who has equipped and empowered many CCF leaders in the community to better engage their peers.

Connecting with God with Karen Robinson
STOP! God wants your attention! Do you feel like you are too busy to spend time with God? This workshop will look at how to slow down long enough to hear what God has to say. It will also look at the important components we need in our spiritual lives in order to be most effective in ministry for the long run. An empty cup pours out a whole lot of nothing, so come to this workshop and start ensuring that you are refilling your cup with living water. Karen Robinson works for Youth Unlimited (TYFC). For the past five years she has been working with homeless youth and this fall made a move to work with youth in the Jane-Finch community. She is ordained through her home church Yorkminster Park Baptist Church. She has a Master of Divinity from Tyndale Seminary and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from York University. Working in some of the darkest places of our city has given Karen a unique perspective on the challenges we all face in our walks with God. Connecting deeply and passionately with God is necessary for all of us to survive the ups and downs of our lives and our journeys in ministry.
